Ex-White House press chief joins CNN

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Former White House press secretary Tony Snow Monday joined CNN's election-year political team as a conservative pundit, the US news network said.

Snow, 52, a former presenter with Fox News who has battled colon cancer, quit the White House in September after 18 months as President George W. Bush's chief spokesman.

"I'm delighted to be able to join CNN during the most exciting and unpredictable political year in memory," Snow said in a statement issued by the international television network.

"I'm eager to get started, since this race is sure to shape American politics for years to come," he said.

Karl Rove, Bush's longtime lieutenant, has carved out a niche as a TV pundit with Fox News after leaving the White House last August.
