GREEN BAY, United States (AFP) — Green Bay Packers receiver Koren Robinson was reinstated by the National Football League after serving a one-year ban for a substance abuse violation, the team announced Wednesday.
Packers general manager Ted Thompson said the league acted on the first day Robinson was eligible to return to the NFL following his suspension after being arrest following a high-speed car chase while intoxicated 14 months ago.
"The league has informed us that Koren Robinson has been reinstated," said Thompson.
"It has been a year since we've seen Koren, so our first step is to have him return to Green Bay. The Packers will request a roster exemption, during which time we would see where Koren is at in terms of football shape.
"We're aware how difficult this past year has been for Koren but the Packers are grateful for the progress he's made as evidenced by this reinstatement."
Robinson, who will practice with the Packers on Thursday, played for Minnesota when he was arrested last year. He was cut by Minnesota and signed a two-year contract with the Packers in September of 2006. playing four games before the suspension was imposed.
