Dolphins dump general manager after 1-15 finish

MIAMI (AFP) — Miami Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller was fired Monday, a day after the National Football League club completed a dismal 1-15 season with a 38-25 loss to Cincinnati.

Mueller had served in the job since June of 2005 but lacked the power over personnel choices until this season, in which the Dolphins had the eighth 1-15 campaign since the NFL adopted a 16-game schedule for each club in 1978.

"Any time you have a relationship with somebody it's tough, but this is a tough business and we've been through a tough year," Dolphins coach Cam Cameron said. "When you're not moving on, this time has its challenges."

Bill Parcells, the former NFL coach who took over as the Dolphins vice-president of football operations, made the move and will speak with Cameron about his future later this week amid speculation he will be fired.

"There's going to be an opportunity to sit down and talk to Bill in the next few days," Cameron said. "We'll treat it as an exchange between two guys who want to see the Miami Dolphins be successful."

Asked about his fate in what amounts to a job interview, Cameron was matter of fact about the future.

"My thought has always been to control what you can control. I'm sure those things will be talked about the next few days," Cameron said. "The fact he's here with the Miami Dolphins, I see that as a positive."
