Disgruntled Dolphin Taylor to miss training camp
MIAMI, Florida (AFP) — Tony Sparano, preparing for his first season as head coach of the Miami Dolphins, already has an unhappy player to contend with in defensive end Jason Taylor.
Sparano said Wednesday that Taylor, who has demanded to be traded, won't be attending the team's training camp.
"I know that Jason is not going to be at any OTAs (Organized Team Activities)," Sparano told the Miami Herald. "I know that Jason is not going to be at any minicamps. I know Jason is not going to be at training camp."
Taylor, through his agent, Gary Wichard, has asked to be traded several times. Sparano declined to discuss Taylor's trade demands.
"Jason is a player under contract with the Miami Dolphins," Sparano said. "He knows that. Both parties are well aware of the information. That's all I'm going to say about it."
The Dolphins lost their first 13 games last season en route to a 1-15 record.
