Russia vows 'military support' for Georgian rebels: Medvedev

MOSCOW (AFP) — President Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday vowed "military support" for the Georgian rebel regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and said it would prevent any new "military adventure" against them.

"We will give each other all necessary support, including military support," Medvedev said at the signing of diplomatic pacts with the two provinces.

"We will not allow a new military adventure. No-one should have any illusions about this," he said.
