Liberian-born NFL safety signs with Cardinals

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Bhawoh Jue, a Liberian-born free agent defensive back, signed with the National Football League's Arizona Cardinals on Thursday after having spent the past two seasons with the San Diego Chargers.

Jue, a 28-year-old safety, was a standout at Penn State University and a third-round selection of the Green Bay Packers in the 2001 NFL Draft. He has made 183 tackles and six interceptions in six NFL seasons.

Jue's family departed war-torn Liberia when he was only one year old for the United States and eventually moved to surburban Washington, where he resides.

He led the Chargers in 2005 with three interceptions and had joined the St. Louis Rams earlier this season after being cut before the season by the Chargers.
