NFL suspends Bills defender for full '08 season

NEW YORK (AFP) — Buffalo Bills defensive end Anthony Hargrove was suspended without pay for the entire 2008 season on Monday by the National Football League for his third violation of the NFL substance abuse policy.

Details of the banishment were not revealed under league policy but Hargrove must appeal to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell before he can be reinstated.

Hargrove, set to become a free agent, was suspended for the first four games of the season by the NFL in August for a second drug policy violation.

Hargrove, 24, was obtained in October of 2006 from St. Louis. He has 132 tackles and 10.5 sacks in 57 career NFL games. The third-round selection in the 2004 NFL Draft made 46 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 12 games this past season as a reserve.
