Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire in remake of 'Brothers'

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire are being lined up to star in a Hollywood remake of acclaimed Danish war film "Brothers," it was reported Tuesday.

Gyllenhaal, an Academy Award nominee for his performance in the Oscar-winning gay cowboy drama "Brokeback Mountain" in 2006, and "Spider-Man" star Maguire were both in talks to feature in the film, Daily Variety reported.

The original 2004 film, directed by Denmark's Susanne Bier, tells the story of a man who is sent to fight in Afghanistan while his brother is saddled with the task of looking after his wife and child.

Maguire is to play the soldier sent off to war, with Gyllenhaal his younger brother, Variety reported. Filming is to begin in November.
