GAZA CITY (AFP) — A Hamas policeman and two suspected drugs traffickers were killed on Friday in a shootout during a dawn raid on a house in the Gaza Strip, police and medics said.

The gunfight broke out when forces of the ruling Islamist movement swooped on a building in the Shajaya area of Gaza City where the suspects were holed up, police sources said.

Another 10 members of the Hamas police were wounded in the exchange of fire, the medical sources said.

The dead drugs suspects were two brothers, and Hamas said six members of their family were arrested.
