Cabrera, Duncan drop MLB appeals of suspension

NEW YORK (AFP) — New York Yankees outfielder Melky Cabrera and utility player Shelley Duncan dropped their appeals on Friday and will serve suspensions following an altercation against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Cabrera and Duncan were each slapped with three game bans on March 14 for their part in a bench-clearing incident during a Major League Baseball spring training game against the Rays on March 12.

Duncan, who was the instigator in the brawl, will begin serving his suspension on Sunday.
