Film star Reno hospitalised in Caribbean

PARIS (AFP) — French Hollywood film star Jean Reno was hospitalised Thursday in the Caribbean, but a spokeswoman denied that the actor was suffering from heart trouble.

"Reports that actor Jean Reno is in the hospital due to a heart attack are false," said Christina Papadopoulos. "He is vacationing in the Caribbean and went to a local hospital as a precaution for some discomfort he was feeling due to heartburn and gastroenteritis.

"It was definitely was not a heart attack. He is fine and healthy and enjoying the rest of his vacation travelling in the Caribbean."

The hospital, in Martinique's capital Fort-de-France, also issued a statement saying that Reno was discharged in mid-afternoon local time (around 2000 GMT).

The 60-year-old star has appeared in films including The Da Vinci Code, Ronin, Mission Impossible and cult French thriller Nikita.
