5.9 earthquake reported off Oregon coast: USGS

WASHINGTON (AFP) — A strong earthquake measuring 5.9 on the moment magnitude scale struck Saturday in the Pacific Ocean off the Oregon coast in the western United States, the US Geological Survey reported.

The quake struck at 6:44 am local time (1444 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (six miles), about 180 kilometers (112 miles) west of Port Orford, Oregon, the USGS said. There were no immediate reports of damage.
