Westerveld could become Barcelona reserve keeper
MADRID (AFP) — Sparta Rotterdam keeper Sander Westerveld could become the Barcelona reserve keeper as a back up to first-choice Victor Valdes, Spanish media reported on Monday.
The 33-year-old Westerveld has the right profile to fill in for usual reserve keeper Albert Jorquera, who will be out of action for six months through injury, Madrid sporting daily AS said.
Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo said Westerveld was top of Barcelona's want list, though Malaga keeper Francesco Arnau and other Spanish keepers were also on the list.
