Catherine Deneuve to be honored at US film festival

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve is to be honored with a special tribute at next month's American Film Institute Los Angeles International Film Festival, organizers said Monday.

The 63-year-old will be the subject of a tribute along with American actress Laura Linney, in recognition of their "extraordinary contributions to international cinema," a statement said.

"Each embody, through the complexity and nuance of their extraordinary individual talents, the raw promise of a fine performance," festival director Christian Gaines said.

Deneuve's tribute will be followed by a screening of French film "Persepolis" at the festival on November 10, the statement said.

The AFI Fest takes place from November 1 to 11, opening with the Robert Redford-directed Tom Cruise/Meryl Streep drama "Lions for Lambs".
