Lehman files for bankruptcy reorganization
NEW YORK (AFP) — Troubled investment giant Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy protection Monday under Chapter 11 of US law, which allows reorganization, a spokesman said.
The news came as talks involving US Treasury and Federal Reserve officials failed to head off a collapse of Lehman Brothers which some say could send shockwaves through the global financial system.
