OTTAWA (AFP) — A small Twin Otter plane carrying 10 passengers and two crew was struck from behind as it landed in northern Canada Tuesday by another Twin Otter cargo plane, yet landed safely, the airlines said Tuesday.
Innu Mikun Airlines Flight 961 was on a normal approach to a remote airstrip in Natuashish on the northern coast of Labrador at about 9:45 am (1445 GMT) when an Air Labrador aircraft clipped it, the company said.
"The Innu Mikun aircraft completed its landing safely and there were no personal injuries," Innu Mikun spokesman Bob Halliday said in a statement.
Air Labrador confirmed the mid-air collision, adding authorities are investigating. The pilot and co-pilot aboard its cargo plane were not injured.
The aboriginal community, located 300 kilometers (185 miles) north of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, is only accessible by air or water.
