ROME (AFP) — Lazio's Macedonia forward Goran Pandev claimed in an interview published Wednesday that new Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan is trying to bring him to St James' Park.
Pandev's form has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for the Roman club - he's scored 13 goals in 24 matches in all competitions.
And despite recently committing his future to Lazio, Pandez admitted he could be tempted away from the Stadio Olimpico.
"Some managers from my current team have let me know that Newcastle are interested in signing me," Italian news agency Ansa quoted Pandev from an interview with Makedonski Sport.
"From what I know, Keegan wants to sign me as soon as possible, but it's not up to me to decide.
"Lazio recently decided to hold onto me until the end of June. But in football, nothing is impossible."
It's not the first time that Pandev has spoken of interest from English clubs but Ansa claims Lazio are unlikely to sell unless they receive a generous offer from the Premier League outfit.
Should that be the case, they may then try to sign Rolando Bianchi from Manchester City.
