Oops! Britney Spears runs over paparazzo foot

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Pop princess Britney Spears was at the center of yet another tabloid storm in a teacup on Friday after running over the foot of a photographer and driving away.

Video of the incident which took place in Beverly Hills on Thursday was posted on several celebrity news websites with TMZ.com identifying the photographer involved as one of its employees.

Footage showed Spears attempting to exit the carpark of a medical facility in her Mercedes convertible only to see her route blocked by a scrum of paparazzi. As her car nosed out, a tire appeared to clip a photographer.

Spears, who on Thursday learned that her visitation rights had been suspended in the latest twist of her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, appeared to be distraught before driving away.

TMZ said the photographer later had the foot x-rayed but there were no broken bones.

Spears has had a series of run-ins with photographers who track her every move. Earlier this year she attacked a photographer's car with an umbrella.

Spears shot to superstardom in late 1998, with her smash-hit debut album "Baby One More Time" which she followed with another chart-topping success the following year, "Oops! ... I Did It Again."

According to Time magazine, Spears has sold over 76 million records worldwide and her 31 million albums sold in the United States make her the eighth best-selling female artist in US music history.
