Britain tightens Pakistan travel advice
LONDON (AFP) — Britain strengthened its advice to travellers to Pakistan Friday, warning against "all but essential travel" following the death of Benazir Bhutto.
The Foreign Office said it was also advising travellers already in Pakistan to stay indoors "until the situation becomes clearer".
In a statement, it said: "Following the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on 27 December, there is a risk of continuing violence in the run up to and following her funeral.
"We therefore recommend against all but essential travel to Pakistan until further notice."
It added: "Travellers in Pakistan should remain in their lodgings and not go out until the situation becomes clearer."
Bhutto was killed following a rally in Rawalpindi Thursday and was buried at her family's mausoleum near Naudero in rural southern Pakistan Friday.
