Absolutely scandalous' that OPEC considering cuts: British PM

LONDON (AFP) — British Prime Minister Gordon Brown told a meeting of business leaders on Friday that it was "absolutely scandalous" that oil producing countries were considering cutting production next week.

The emergency meeting of the OPEC crude producers' cartel, which was brought forward to next Friday from November, has sparked speculation that oil producers will cut output to raise oil prices, which had tumbled to a 17-month low point on Thursday.
